Josiah Wedgwood: Staffordshire Superstar (KS1/2)
Discover a story of creativity and industry told through the life of Josiah Wedgwood, a potter, innovator and one of Staffordshire’s true superstars! Meet a young Josiah at the V&A Wedgwood Collection and explore his journey through an interactive gallery workshop. Next, you’ll visit the Wedgwood Factory to see Josiah Wedgwood’s legacy in action and watch pottery being thrown, modelled and decorated. After lunch, get hands-on with clay to become the next ‘Vase-Maker General to the Universe!’, as Josiah called himself. Visit the Creative Studios to throw a pot on the wheel and mould a vase with air-dry clay to take back to school.

‘Exploring Ceramics’
Developed with the V&A Wedgwood Collection and Design Lab Nation V&A Ceramicist in Residence, Florence Dwyer, this resource explores the properties and uses of clay and ceramics in art and design. Students can take part in a range of innovative hands-on activities and be inspired by the incredible breadth of ceramic objects in the V&A collections. It is designed to support the teaching of the Art & Design and Design Technology curriculum at KS3 and KS4.
‘I am a Man and a Brother’
This educational resource explores Wedgwood’s anti-slavery medallion and how its history can inspire anti-racist change today. Created in partnership with the founder of All In, Grace Barrett, this resource includes supporting material and guidance to help you prepare and deliver workshops in school or at the V&A Wedgwood Collection.
